Welcome to our site and thanks for your visit! We were off this past weekend and it was nice. We'll be well rested for our performance at the Beechwood in Vicksburg, MS next Friday and Saturday. . . LABOR DAY WEEKEND. . . .it should be a party weekend to remember!!!
Band news: On weekends that we are not playing our fantastic sound system is for rent and you can hire our most excellent soundman, DJ Larry, to make your function extra special!
and now for this week's EDDIE-torial. . .and here we go. . . about 25 years ago. . about when the band started I was introduced to my fist compact disc. . .a digital recording of Credence Clearwater Revival's 2nd album. I was so very impressed and began my CD collection at that time. I have over 1000 LP albums and I collect very special music. . .well it's probably only special to me and there probably ain't a top 40 hit in the whole bunch. But it is music that I love and cherish. So in the beginning and up to now I collect compact discs of new music as well as digital reproductions of LPs that I already own. Up intil lateley one of my biggest thrills was to go into a CD store and browse. But CD stores are going out of business as the Ipod had taken over. I own an Ipod but do not have the TIME. . .yes TIME to make all of my music go into the tiny device. Now in the few remaining CD stores you can just but a data card of the album you want and then make it go onto your Ipod. THAT REALLY SUCKS!!!! I used to enjoy reading on the back of my old LPs about who the band members were and when and where the recordings were made and who was the engineer and all of that information was important to me just as sports fans like to know who the middle linebacker for the New York Jets is during a football game. But then came CD's and the writing was much smaller and there were few pictures in the CD case. Now with the Ipod syndrome you get very little information about the recordings.
Oh well. . .my time on this earth is rapidly expiring and in a little over 12 years I'll be 70 and it will be great as long as I can play my old records. Hey I do have a digital turntable that will allow me to transfer any old LP onto a compact disc or God forbid onto an Ipod but here again that takes TIME. . . .maybe when I retire that can be my new job. I can only hope for that. In the meantime technology rolls on sort of backwards in my opinion!
Have a great week! thanks, Gary
